Ram and Ewe Fair.
The aab committee aopointed in connection with the Bam and Ewe Fair to bs held under the auspices of the A. and P. Association in February next, ui-.-t on Wednesday evening, the President in the chair. It was resolved that in the Lincoln classes the entries in sections 7, 15 and 23, best pens of five 1 tooth flnck rams, for prizes presented by Messrs \brahams and Williams, should be subject to an up9et price of three guineas each. In the same classes in sections 8, 16 and 24, best pens of five 2 tooth stud rams for special prizes presented by Mr Matthew Henry, second prizes of fl each will also be awarded by the Association. Mr A. 'W. Sherman has given a special prize of £3 3s to be awarded to the best pen of ten fat lambs calculated to produce tha best results in wool aud mutton, eacd entry being a sample of not less than 100 lambs to be offered at the ewe fair, the same to have been bred by the one breeder. The prize money has been increased in tue different classes, several additional prizes being offered. The meeting exhaustively discussed tho question of side shows, and it was decided to offer prizes of X"2 and £1 for tilting in the rink, one hurdle being placed half way between each set of rings,. The second prize in this competition has been donated by Mr 11. Gillies. Tlmv prizes will be awarded to tho exhibitors oi' the best decorated go-cart, pram, or bicvele, the entries being confined to boys and girls under 14 years. Prizes of £3, £1 and Jfcl will be" ottered in the mounted hurdle competition for ladies, eight Hights of 3ft hurdles, no competition unless rive entries. The bicycle and obstacle race, twice round the ring, should be productive of great amusement, competitors having to negotiate the water jump and various other obstructions. Prizes of £?>, 1"2 and jgl will be given in this competition and £5, £3 and £1 in the Hunter's competition. Substantial prizes will be also given in the remaining competitions. The programme will be started at noon, half- an -hour interval being allowed for lunch, proceedings then being oarrie 1 on until ■') o'clock. At 3 o'clock a parade of all the competitors in tho floral competitions will be held and is sure to be attractive. The Committee is sparing no trouble to make the Show a complete success, and. given a tine day. the public will have an opportunity of spending a day's picture quite equal to the second day of the annual show. — Standard.
