SOUTH AUSTRALIA V. VICTORIA.
(Per Press Association.) Adelaide, November IS. The intercolonial cricket match between Victoria and South Australia began today. The Victorians batted first, and their innings closed for 159 runs. The chief scorers were : — Johns, 35 ; Worrall, 30 ; Trott, '29. Later. There wr.s fine weather and a perfect wicket for the match. The bowling of Jones and < iiffen was most destructive to the visitors. The former secured five j wickets for 79, ami (iiffen five for 69. At ' the close of the day's play South Australia had lost no wickets for 88 runs : — Lyons, 52 ; Darling, 29. The match Coal Creek v. Birmingham took place at Birmingham ou Saturday last, and resulted in a win by an innio^s and seven runs for Coal Creek. \V. Hedges with the bat topped the score, and G. Smith proved himoelf to be on the spot with the ball taking eevon wickets in the first innings and four in the stcond innings. Oxfordshire match : — There was a fine bowler named Trott, Ten wickets one innings he got ; Now and then by a run Is a cricket match won, But this victory was gained by A Trott.
