To Stand this Season in the Fkildino and Ranoitikbi Districts, The Thoroughbred Horse, HANDSOME JACK (Foaled 1890). HANDSOME JACK is a seven-year old, stoatljsbuilt bay horse, standing 15 hands 3 inches high. As his name indicates, he is a handsome horse, and so fashionably bred that he is well worthy the attention of breeders. The stoutest strains of the English and colonial thoroughbred blood is blended in this horse's pedigree. It would ap* ' pear almost unnecessary to refer further than to his tabulated pedigree undermentioned, but the family he has descended from are so rich in winning blood that the owner may be pardoned for just mentioning a few facts perhaps sot generally known. Radiant, who never raced, is by that stoutly »bred sire Sobinson Crusoe, whose mares are so highly thought of by Australian breeders, and as Radiant is from Radiance this makes the dam of Hand* some Jack fall sister to those fa9t horses Quadrant and Cruiser (sire of the Rang i-tikei-bred Lorelei). Robinson Crusoe (sire of .Radiant) is full brother to that stud gem Onyx (dam of Nordenfeldt), and Radiance (dam of Badiant) is by Fireworks (sire of The Mute, who is sire of the Grand National Steeplechase winner, Mutiny, and and the Grand National Hurdle Race winner, Dummy, last year), while Sunshine (dam of Radiance), is also dam of Sunrise, a very successful stnlhon in New South Wale . A glance at St. Hippo's pedigree, who :s considered by govd judges to be one of the best horses seen in New Zealand of late years, wil show that Handiomb Jack has really a better pedigree, as be shows the valuable strain of MaribyrnoDg blood, which is absent from St. Hippo's pedigree, Both horses are closely reiated on blood lines. j ; j Irish Bird- Sir Hercules i :— Baron . j 9 I-.conomist i.5 Echidna Miss Pratt c Gk-ncoe # ullan I ',:/> Pocsh- i Trampoline |t! ontas Muley g' Marpessa Clare '"— Orl.incln TouchsTone \Z,~~\ Tedding .Vulture \" 'r\ l0" Mi'-sTwick- KockinKham" I ! ■£.
