Gas Bills.

At tbe meeting of tbe Feilding Borough Conncil this evening, Cr W. G. Haybittle stated that there was an impression abroad tbat tbe Gas Company were not charging for tbe gas in accordance with the agreement, and be asked that the clause bearing on the subject be read.

Tbo Town Clerk read the clause which provides tbat the Company shall " supply such of tbo inhabitants of the Borough as may require tbo same in compliance with the provisions of the Gas Companies and Consumers Liability Act, 1682, at a fair and rosonable price the maximum net cash price being 12s 6d per 1000 cubic feet provided always tbat if at any time tbe price of coal shall increase by tbe sum of 5a per ton above the prices ruling at the date hereof then the said company may at their discretion increase the maximum net price by Is per 1000 cubic feet for each 5s per ton increase iv tbe price of coal and in case at any time the price of coal shall decrease by the sum of 5s per ton upon the price ruling at the date hereof then tbe maximum net price of gac shall be decreased by 9d per 1000 cubic feet for each complete 5s per ton of such decrease in the price of coal."
