The Times on the Australian Mail Line.
(Per Press Association.) London. November 3. The Times in au article on the Australian mail line praises Huddart, Parker and Company's pluck and obstinacy in starting a Pacific service in the teeth of so much discouragement. It is of immense importance, the paper says, to maintain the chain of swift British communications. Australian food supplies are important to Klondyke, aud failure to provide sufficient adventitous aid is greatly hampering the line. The Times is confident that New Zealand will gpeedily ratify the contract entered with by J. G. Ward in 1895, and in conclusion says it would be most unfortunate if so useful and important a line dropped for the want of local support.
