To Stand this Season in the Fbildino and Eanoitikbt Districts, The Thoroughbred Horse, HANDSOME JACK (Foaled 1890). HANDSOME JACK is a seven-year old, stoHtly*built bay horse, standing 15 hands 3 inches high. As his name indicates, he is a handsome horse, and so fashionably bred that he is well worthy the attention of breeders. The stoutest strains of the English and colonial thoroughbred blood is blended in thi9 horse's pedigree. It would ar>* pear almost unnecessary to refer further than to his tabulated pedigree undermentioned, but the family he has descended from are so rich in winning blood that the owner may be pardoned for just mentioning a few facts perhaps aot; generally known. Badiant, who never raced, is by that stcutly»bred sire Robinson Crusoe, whose mares are so highly thought of by Australian breeders, and as Badiant is from Radiance this makes the dam of Handsome Jack fall sister to those fast horses Quadrant and Cruiser (sire of the Rangitikeibred Lorelei). Robinson Crusoe (sire of Radiant) is full brother to that stud gem Onyx (dam of Nordenfeldt), and Radiance (dam of Radiant) is by Fireworks (sire of The Mute, who is sire of the Grand National Steeplechase winner, Mutiny, and and the Grand National Hurdle Race winner, Duminj-, last year), while Sunshine (dnm of Radiance), is also dam of Sunrise, a very successful stnllion in New South Wale-. I A glance at St. Hippo's pedigree, who is considered by good judges to be one of the best horses seen in JNew Zealand cf lato years, will show that Handsomr Jack has really a better pedigree, as he j shews the valuable strnin of Manbyr» norg blood, which is absent from St. Hippo's pedigree. Both horses are closely related on blood lines.
