New York Mayoralty.

(Per Press Association.) New Yobk, November 8. The contest for the Mayoralty of Greater New York has resulted in the return of Chief Justice A. Van Wyck, nominee of the Tammany Hall Party, defeating Setb Low, the Citizens' Union candidate, who was second, and Henry George, son of the late Henry George, by an estimated majority of 70,000. Later. The polling for the Mayoralty of New York was as follows : — Van Wyck, 235,181; Setb Low, 149,873; Tracy, 101,823 ; George, 20,727. The proceedjng« were marked by great excitement, but there was no disturbance. The Tammany Hally Party polled every democratic vote. London, November 8. British newspapers commenting on tbe result say it will prove a great set back to honest Government, and is indicative of a democratic revival.
