TRUTH WILL PKEVAiL. "1 NO one will qaestion tho accuracy of j the Custom-; return*. A paper laid before Parliament this week fur* nishes a table of the consumption of articles in common use, which is start* ling until the surrounding circumstance* are coandered, and the reaaon only strikes oie like the flash or an electric ' searchlight. The consumption of Sugar and Tea for the the two pagt years, and the duty paid j per head of population, is stated thus : — Lbs Duty Total lbs used. perhrad. per head Sugar, 1895, 65 see^O 88 5 3s BJ<l Sugar, 1896, 67.395,84') B&'4 3" Bjd Increase ... 1,826 880 9 Ojd Tea, 1895, 4,472,528 604 2s «Jd Tea, 1896, 4,431,480 588 Is 11-^d Decrease ... 41,048 '16 7}& It seems incredible that while the people used more sugar they ehould consumo less Tea. Thf» explanation is that 1 the China and Indian Teas are rapidly going out of consumption, and the Brits ish product, grown in Ceylon, is very properly taking their place. Foremost among Ceylon Tens stands the UNRIVALLED BOKATURA. and although there have been doubts cast upon the claims that have been made for its STSBNOTH and WONDBHFtTL ROONOMT, the official testimony that 41,048 fewer pounds of T<*a have proved sufficient for an increase of population of 13.317 in the 1896 period is too convincing to admit of further question. SUKATURA TEA is not blended with Indian or China tens, nor is it handled from the timo it leaves the stores in Ceylon until it reaches the consumer. Erflect and consider what you are losinc annually by using ordinary tea. Ask your grocer for, and insist upon havn»*, SURATURA. and no other. T^MPIRE COMPANY'S Jji SUPERIOR BLENDED TEAS.
