Company, Ltd., report on tin* -'m^uce markets for the wefk ending 20th October as follows: - V\ 00l — The new clip "scorning forward very slowly, but all parcels to hand aro light iv condition aud weli grown. Tho European market** are still reported i firm, but in absence of specific sales no | chaage in values can be recorded since last report. At our sale to-day we j offered a few bales, but the quality was i so mixed that uo indication as to tho feeling of buyers as to tho outlook can be given. Crntchiogs were eagerly competed for and realised up to 4^d per lb. All clips coming forward are now being held for the first series of wool saloa, wbich opens on tbe 19th prox. Sheepskins. — At our for.D.gbtlv sale to»day we offered an exceptionally large catalogue of nearly 5000 skins. Tbo attundaDco of buyers was good and competition very keen. For all the lea'ing lines up to 5Jd per lb was secured, and lower grade parcels were a'so eagerly competed for. We have repeatedly pointed out to sellers the advantages to he derived from sub mitting their produce to pablic competition, and the large quantities now sect to our sales proves that producers are beginning to appreciate the benefits derived therefrom. Our next sale will be held on 12th prox,, and already we have advices of several good-sized paroles coming forward. Tallow. — Tbe local demand continues stagnant, but tbe Euglisb market is reported to be slightly stronger. In view, however, of tbe fact tbat the stocks in London are exceptionally heavy, we do not anticipate tbat tbe advances recently reported will be maintained Hides. — We can strongly recommend consignments, for although the local demand is slack we have no difficulty in obtaining very fnll values in outside markets. Quotations are in tbe mean, j time without change. Oats. — The approach of spring bas I ca ised tbe demand to ease off a little, ! and prices are a little easier since last report. Stocks are light, however, and we do not anticipate any material drop in values in tbe near future. Prime short feed are worth 2s 6d to 2s 7d, sacks in, ex store. Pototoes. — Market fully supplied and sales are difficult to effect, and we quote prime picked table Derwents at up to 60s, ex store, sacks in. ! Fungus. —We can recommend consignments All available is readily taken up at up to 3_d per lb.
