MANCHESTER RIFLES.
The first competition, for prizes given by Lieut. Pleasants, was fired on the Feilding range at 5 a.m. and 2 p.m. yesterday. The weather in the morning was all that could be desired, but in the afternoon the wind was somewhat choppy and the light not extra good. Several men complained of the quality of the 1896 ammunition, some of the shots falling short and several cartridges failing to go off. Following are the scores: — 200. 300. 500 H'p. T'l Lieut.
