To Stand this Season in the Fejldivg and Banoitikei Distbicts, The Thoroughbred Horse, HANDSOME JACK (Foaled 1800). HANDSOME JACK is a seven-yoar old, stoatlyvbuilt bay horse, standing 15 hands 3 inches high. As his name indicates, he is a handsome horse, and so fashionably bred that he is well worthy the attention of breeders. The stoutest strains of the English and colonial thorouphbred blood is blended in this horse's pedigree. It would np» pear almost unnecessary to refer further than to his tabulated pedigree undermentioned, but the family be has descended from are so rich in winning blood that the owner may be pardoned for jnst mentioning a few facts perhaps not generally known. Hadiant, who never raced, is by that stoutly »bred sire Robinson Crusoe, whose mares are so highly thought of by Australian breeders, and as Kndiant is from Radiance thia makes the dam of Handsome Jack full sister to those fast horses Quadrant and Cruiser (sire of theßangi-tikei-bred Lorelei). Robinson Crusoe (sire o! : Radiant) is full brother to that stud cem Onyx (dam of Nordenfoldt), and Radiance (dam of Radiant) is by Fireworks (sire of Tho Mute, who is sire of the Grand National Steeplechase winner, Mutiny, and and tLe Grand Natioi.al Hurdle Race winner, Dumny, last year), while Sunshine (dam of Radiance), is also dam of Sunrise, a vury succep-ful stallion in New South Wale-. A glance at St. Hippo's pedigree, who is conviriijred by go:d judges to bo one of the be-;t horses seen in New Zealand of late years, will shotv that Haxdsomk Jack has really a better pedigroe, as he shows the valuable strain of MuribjrnoDg blood, which is absent from St. Hippo s pedigree, Hoth horses are closely reiated on blood lines. , _ I 'liish Bird- Sir Hercules I ' ' Baron: J--0.,i0m,-.t i !J: T chidna Miss l'ratt j |: , Gluncue ult.-ui I 1^ Pocah- | Trampoline It, ontas Mulcy j£ Msrpessa Chin-|s'-5 Orlando Touchstone" " " I^s |~; (TeddinK- Vulture j ■- ■;' to,.
