The Great Strike at Home.
(Per Press Association.) London, October 25. The Amalgamated Society of Engineers lias agreed to the holding of a conference, provided the lock-out and strike notices are withdrawn. Mr Ilarnes, secretary of the Engineers' Society, states that the unions are likely to have a rough time. A member of the Engineers' Society, who was sent to Kiel, Gernianj', to advocate the cause of the strikers, was arrested, and compelled to leave the town. The boilermakers who recently struck have decided to continue the strike until eight hours have heen conceded to them, in spite of the decision of the Boilermakers' Society not to grartt them strike pay because of their refusal to accept a compromise with the employers, by \>hieh the 1892 agreement was reverted to, The railway einployees have requested ;i reply to their demand for eight hours by November 16th. If the deiuand is not conceded it is proposed to refer the <jljc;»lion to arbitration.
