Maaa on Sunday in Feilding at 8 a.m. The number of milk suppliers to the Apiti Cheese Factory is increasing every week. We hare received the Gazette containing the new Railway Tariff to come into operation on the Bth of November. The Shooting Committee of the Manchester Rifles will meet in the Orderly Room this evening at 7 o'clock sharp. Mr Clayton, the contractor for the erection of the school teacher's residence at Apiti, is making good progress with his contract. An old " 65th " man, Mr Thoma* Phillips, who accompanied his regiment to Taranaki in 1860, died at Auckland on Monday, October 11th. Mr Guy has made a start with his saw mill at Apiti, and has already a number of orders in hand to execute. Mr Guyhas one of the latest improved planing machines, which will be put down as soon as his shed is erected. It is suggested that the Government should be asked to purchase Mr E. J. Kiddiford's block of 1000 acres near Cheltenham, but the owner is not anxious to sell, and without his consent the land could not be taken. The Feilding Bowling green will be officially opened to-morrow afternoon at 2 o'clock sharp, when it is expected there will be a good attendance of visiting bowlers from I'almerston and Wanganui. A boy named Charles Richard Field, fourteen-months-old. son of Mr George Field, a settler, of Apiti, wan drowned in a creek at the rear of his parents residence yesterday afternoon. An inquest will be held. The New Zealand Times reports there is a rumour in Petone that the lady Councillor of the I'ctonc Borough Council is to be asked to resign. If she is a true woman she will stick to her post, and let the stupid men Councillors resign instead. It is reported (says the Tapanui Courier) that all the business men connected with the ex-hotel interest met it Tapanui last week. The business of the meeting was not disclosed, but it is said it was to elect delegates to sent to Wellington to petition for the restoration of licenses in Clutha.
