The chief interest centred in Platt Belt'i attempt! to lower the Australian mile and five mile records. He covered a mile in lmin 45secs, best ing his own record by 2 2»sth seos, and did the half mile in 51 1 sth sees, beating the record by 3 sth of a second. The fire miles occupied 9m io 59 1 sth sec*, being l»sth outside of Lesna's record, bat he easily beat the first four mile records. In the International Scratch Mile Race Megson, N.8.W., and Green, England, rode a dead heat, with Walne, Queensland, Brd. Time, 2min 14 1 6th sees. Melbourne, October 28. At the Amateur Athletic Sports the mile walk championship was won by Barrett, Greig, New Zealand, being second. Time, 6mins 47 5 ssecs. Reynolds, the New Zealander, wan second in the mile bicycle championship, while Onff, New Zealand, was similarly placed in the 120 yards hnrdle race, which was won by Bevan in 17 2 ssecs.
