A cricket match was played at Birmingham last Saturday between the Apiti and Birmingham teams. The weather was bitterly cold with a strong wind blowing. The visitors suffered a rather tevere defeat, being 69 runs bthind when the wickets were drawn, one innings only being played. Following are the scores: — Birmingham. — Ist Innings. The cricket season was opened by the Cheltenham Clnb on Saturday last with a match between tbe Kiwiteaand Cheltenham members of the Club. A very close game was played, which eventually ended in a win for Kiwitea by the narrow margin of one run.
