Loans to Local Bodies.

At the meeting of the Pohangina County Council on Saturday a circular was received from the Pahiatua County Council asking for the sympathy aid co-operation of the first named Council in the direction of making representation to tbe Government for tbe reduction of the interest now payable on loans under the Loans to Looal Bodies Act, and for tbe extension of the time for the repayment of such loan. Councillors approved ef tbe suggestions and it was resolved, on the motion of Cr Dickin (chairman) and seconded by Cr Brown, '•That with reference to the circular from the Pahiatua County Council re proposed amendment to the Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886, this Council is in entire sympathy with the proposed amendment, and will request tbe Member for the District to support the proposal." It was, also, resolved, on the motion of Cr Dickin and seconded by Cr Brown, "That Messrs F. Y. Lethbridge, M.H.R., and F. Pirani, M.H.R., be respectfully requested to give their support to the proposal of tbe Pabiatua County Council to amend tbe Government Loans to Liocal Bodies Act, 1886, in the direction of extending tbe period of repayment, and reducing the rate of interest payable."
