To Stand this Season in the Feildikg and Banoitikei Districts, The Thoroughbred Horse, HANDSOME JACK I [ Foaled 1890). HANDSOME JACK is a seven-year old, stostlysbuilt bay horse, standing 15 hands 3 inches high. As his name indicates, he is a handsome horse, and so fashionably bred that he is well worthy the attention of breeders. The stoutest strains of the English and colonial thoroughbred blood is blended in this horse's pedigree. It would ap» pear almost unnecessary to refer further than to his tabulated pedigree undermentioned, but the family he has descended from are so rich in winning blood that the owner may be pardoned for just mentioning a few facts perhaps aot generally known. Badiant, who never raced, is by that «toutly»bred sire Robiiison Crusoe, whose mares are so highly thought of by Australian breeders, and as Badiant is from Radiance this makes the dam of Handsome Jack fall sister to those fast horses Quadrant and Cruiser (sire of theßangitikoibred Lorelei). Robinson Crusoe (sire of Badiunt) is full brother to that stad gem Oayx (dam of Nordenfeldt), and Radiance (dam of Radiant) is by Fireworks (s.re of Th<" Mute, who is sire of the Grand National Steeplechase winner, Muliiiy, and and the Grand National Hurdle Race winner, Dummy, la3t year), while Sunshine (dam of Radiance), is also dam of Sunri«e, a very successful stallion in v'ew South Wale-\ A glance at St. Hippo's pedigree, who is con^Hercd by good judges to be one of the best hordes seen in New Zealand cf J late years, wi'l show that Handsome I Jack has really a better pedigree, as he ,' shows the valuable stmin of MHribyr* nong blood, which is absent from St. | Hippo's pedigree. Roth horses are closely reiated on blood lines. ilrish It rcl- Sir Hciculcs I ' Hhc , tatchei Guicc-oli , i 7i l!in» .. • - — , ' .- 1 hcnniiriist ! i _i; l-thidna Miss Pa n I ; z, (..K.iicoe nJi.ui i 'S- I'ocil - Trnmpilmr • '' - !
