Tha Egmont Farmers' Union report : —On Friday, 24th inst., at Stratford, a large entry of cattle came forward, mostly young stock, many of which were in poor condition. Bidding was more brisk than of late, but prices showed but little improvement. The Horse Fair on Saturday, 25th, was well attended by buyers, and a fair entry of horses came forward. The demand for draughts was far in excess of the supply and good upstanding hacks and harness horsMS were well competed for, whilst other classes were neglected. At the Hawera sale, on Wednesday 29tb, tbe yards were well filled with stock of good quality. Thero was better competition for all classes of stock than for months past, and as several lines were submitted without reserve, the majority of the stock sold under the hammer at slightly improved values. We quote :— At Strat ford —2 to 2£d year steers, L 2 9s to L 2 12s ttd ; yearling steers. Ll 2s to LI 12s ; dairy cows and heifers, L 4 5s to L 5 10s ;' heifcas in calf, L 2 to L 3 7s 9d ; store cows, Ll lls to JLjI 16h ; weaners, 13s to 18s. At Horse Fair— Draughts, Ll6 10s to L21 15s ; light harness horses, L 9 to Ll6 ; hacks, L 4 sOs to Ll4. At Hawera — Fat bullocks, L 5 to Lsss ; 2 to 1\ year steers, L 2 te L 2 8s 6d ; year ling*, Ll to Ll 6s : dairy cows, L 8 10s to L 5 ; fat cows, LS 5s to L 4 13s ; 15 to 18 months steers, Ll 9s to Ll 12s ; weaners, mixed, 17s to 21s; empty heifers, Ll 5s 6d to Ll 11s. SheepHoggets, 7s lid. Messrs F. R. Jackson and Co. report as follows on their last Jobnsonville sale : — The usual number of cattle came forward, the quality being fair to good, with a few prime cows. Bidding was brisk throughout, and prices were well maintained. Sheep, in a limited number, remained at last sale's value. Pigs sold at full rates. Cattle.— Best bullocks, £6 2s 6d to JE6 15s ; others, £5 5a to £5 17s 6d ; cows, £4 15s to £5 10s, equal to 15s per 1001 box and 14s for cow beef. Sheep. — Wethers, 13s 6d ; ewes, 11s 2d to 11s 7d ; few small halfbred wethers, 9s 2d. Pigs. — Good pork, 26s to 295 ; porkers, 16s 3d to 18s 3d ; small pigs, 6s 9d to 10s.
