To Stand this Season in the Fbilding and Eanqitikei Distbicts The Thoroughbred Horse, HANDSOME JACK (Foaled 1890). HANDSOME JACK is a seven-year old, stoHtljsbuilt bay horse, standing 15 hands 3 inches high. As his name indicates, he is a handsome horse, and so fashionably bred that he is well worthy the attention of breeders. The stoutest 9train* of the English and colonial thoroughbred blood is blended in this horse's pedigree. It would ap» pear almost unnecessary to refer further than to his tabulated pedigree under* mentioned, but the family he has descended from are so rich in winning blood that the owner may be pardoned for just mentioning a few facts perhaps not generally known. Radiant, who never raced, is by that stoutly»bred sire RoHinson Crusoe, whose mares are so highly thought of by Australian breeders, and as Eadiant is from Radiance this makes the dam of Hand" some Jack fall sister to those fast horses Quadrant and Cruiser (sire of theHangi- I tikeibred Lorelei). Robinson Crusoe (sire of Radiant) is full brother to that stud gem Onyx (dam of Nordenfeldt), and R-\di£.nce (dam of Radiant) is by Fireworks (sire of The Mute, who is sire of the Grand National Steeplechase winner, Muttay, and and the Grand National Hurdle Race winner, Dummy, last year), while Sunshine (dam of Radiance), is also diim of Sunrise, a very successful stallion in South Wale-. A glance at St. Hippo's pedigree, who is considered by good judges to be one of the best horses seen in New Zealand of late years, wil show that Handsomr ! Jack has really a better pedigree, as he I shows the valuable strnin of Maribyr- ( nong blood, which is absent from St. Hippo's pedigree. Both horees are closely reiated on blood linos. II i I I .
