From the Secretary to the Education Board, stating Mr C. Lucas had been appointed Truant Inspector in the district ; also, explaining why the Chair> man had not been informed of Mr Stagpole'a temporary appointment to the school ; also, that a 600 gall on tank would be provided for use at the school. The visiting committee, Messis Goodbe here and Milson, reported on visiting the school and giving instructions for certain repairs, including the placing of twelve loads of metal in the school grounds; the cost of the requirements di>l not permit of them doing all that was necessary ; the giant stride post was rotten between wind and wt.ter and would not pay to remove ; the school grounds wanted over fifty loads of metal and should be properly levellel to put them in order. From \Y. Franklin-Browne, complaining that articles of clothing were being stolen from the school and asHng that the committee consider the question of taking steps to stop the thefts. Resolved, That Mr Franklin-Browne's letter be handed to the Headmaster with I instructions to make enquiries and report to the committee at their next meeting. Resolved, That the Edueaticn Board b<j asked to refund the amounts paid for j freight. I Accounts were passed for £3 6s 2d. Resolved, That a recommendation be made to the Education Board to appoint Arthur Haybittle as pupil teacher and Albert Trevena as cadet. Resolved, That the chairman write to the Education Board pointing oat the disgraceful state of the grounds and ask that sixty loads of metal be pat on such grounds. Resolved, That Messrs Wood and Taylor be the visiting committee for the month. The advisability of moving in the matter of having the Feilding school constituted a High School was introduced by the chairman and it formally discussed. It was decided to leave the matter over nntil next meeting, in the meantime the members of the committee will procure all the information they can on the subject. The meeting then adjourned.
