The Hon Mr Jennings moved that the Government should take into considera tion tho advisability of amending the Gatuiug aud Lotteries Act in the direc tion of allowing properly rfgistered and constituted bodies known as Friendly Societies, Eight Hour Leagues, Trade Unions and also bodies registered uuder the Unclassified Societies Registration Aot to have art unions for the purpose of distributing useful articles other than what were termed works of art.

The Minister for Education said tbat the Government looked with no favour on any proposal which would extend any further means by which gambling would be eucourayed

The motion, after cousiderablo discus sion, was withdrawn by leave.
