To Stand this Season in the Feilding and Baxqttikei Distbicts, The Thoroughbred Horse, HANDSOME JACK , (Foaled 1890). TTANPSOME JACK is a seven-year XI old, stoHtlyobuilt bay horse, standing 15 hands 3 inches high. As his name indicates, he is a handsome horse, and so fashionably bred that he is well worthy the attention of breeders Thn stoutest strains of the English and colonial thoroughbred blood is blended in this horse's pedigree. It would ap-> pear almost unnecessary to refer further than to his tabulated pedigree undermentioned, but the family he has descended from are so rich in winning blood thet the owner may be pardoned for just mentioning a few facts perhaps not generally known. Radiant, who never raced, is by that stoutly»bred sire Robinson Crusoe, whose mares are so highly thought of by Australian breeders, and as Eadiant is from Radiance this makes the Ham of Handsome Jack fall sister to those fast horses Quadrant and Cruiser (sire of theßangi-tikei-bred Lorelei). Robinson Crusoe (sire of Rndiant) is full brother to that stud gem Onyx (dam of Nordenfeldt), and Radiance (dam of Radiant) is by Fireworks (sire of Th« Mute, who is sire of the Grand National Steeplechase winner, Mutiuy, and and the Grand J National Hurdle Bace winner, Dummy, j last year), while Sunshine (dam of Radiance), is nlso dam of Sunrise, a very successful staihon in New South Wale*. A glance at St. Hippo's pedigree, who is considered by gocd judges to be one of , the best horses seen in New Zealand of j late rears, wi>l show that Handsomk Jack has really a better pedigree, as he shows the valuable strain of Maribyr- , nong blood, which is absent from St. Hippo's pedigree. Both horses are closely related on blood lines. ! , Irish Bird- Sir Hercules I L lhe ! catcher Guiccoli :-r B.iron . I ; > hconomist i 'jj Echidna Miss Pratt ! ; V J~.
