Ashurst Notes.
I FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT. | On Friday evening last a very successful dance was held in Mr William's new hall in aid of the funds of the Ashurst Brass Band, parties from Bunnythorpe, Colston, Feilding and Pohangina being present. The music was supplied by Messrs C. Rimmer and A. Tross (violins), Mr Tom Wilson (piano). Mr J. Paton made a very efficient M.C. The catering was done by our local confectioner who deserves credit for the fine spread supplied. A most enjoyable evening was spent, horseplay, which has marred so many dances, being conspicious by its absence. The hall, which was tastefully decorated for the occasion, was lent free of cost by Mr Williams. There was a meeting of those interested in the Church of England on Saturday evening last when Mr C. Patterson was elected people's warden in place of Mr J. Craven resigned. There is to be a sacred concert in the Wcsleyan Church on Tuesday evening next, when the price of admission will be sixpence. The bank days here nre altered to 1 Tuesday and Friday. ! Mr Acheson-Grav, the patron of the Chess and Draughts Club, has donated a further sum of JEI Is towards prizes for draughts players only.
