St. Andrews, Colyton.

The annual meeting cf parishioners in connection with St. Andrew's, Colyton, was held in the Church last Thursday night. The Rev. A. Innea Jones presided, and the attendance was Tery fair considering the stormy weather. Mr Andrew, as Treasurer, read a statement of receipts aod expenditure which showed that the total amount received during the year was £101 Is 2d of which £36 14s 2d bad been paid in current expenses, debt on the building had been reduced by 420, and there was £44 10s paid into the sinking fund in the bank, which would reduce the amount of debt to about 160. The financial statement £ was considered highly satisfactory and the balance sheet was adopted by the meeting. The following gentlemen were elected a committee for the ensuing year. Messrs Andrew, George Ash worth, Simpson, James Oarliek, H. Hocken, Langshear, and Je.mee Mitchell. Mr Andrew was appointed Treasurer, Mr Mitchell (senior) Auditor, aad Mr Anhworth Secretary. Messrs Andrew and Ashworth were empowered to sign cheques. The Vicar, iv reviewing the past year said he was thai kful for the progress made in cuurcb matters in this part of the Parochial Distriot, be was especially pleased tb.it a Sunday School had been started, remarking that the Sunday School is the nursery of the Church. With regard to yisiting, he thought people expected too much, they should bear in mind that theirs' was not the only centre \o be visitod ; very often those who cotnplaiced that they never saw the parson were just the ones who nuver come to church where he was always to be seen, A lengthy discussion took place on a motion for letting sittings in the church An amendment to the effect that all seats be free was eventually carried by a large majority. It was decided to have kneeling stools provided for all tbe pews in the Church and a sub committee was appointed to have the work carried out. The meeting terminated with prayer*
