Tho Secretary's report was read to the following effect: — In presenting the annual report of the Feilding Cricket Chib for tlie past season he regretted to Ktut(! that in many respects the club was not wlmt it might have been. There was ;i membership of 90 rvs against 13 for the previous season and a little more activity seemed apparent, but at bo^t was scarcely a reality. The championship team engagrd in four matches — losing three and winning one. the latter against a weak team from Cheltenham. They had the credit of a most unsportsmanlike forfeit to IJongoten. Late in the season a Wednesday team was formed and produced excellent sport, good men, and a very sociable spirit. They were very successful, defeating I'nhnerston and Beaconsfield. The club stands very much in need of live members ready to do a little towards the affairs of the club and a senior team that can be relied on to practice and keep engagements. It was a crying shame that in view of the excellent ground practically provided and kept by the President that it is scarcely ever used except for matches. Laziness and independence characterised almost every member of the club. During the season a moveablc fence, was placed around the ground proper, but if a certain one or two were not on the field after the ground had been used the fence was left rolled up and the ground suffered by the sheep taking possession thereof. The finances were low. They had to purchase everything necessary in the way of material and they must do the same again. As the result of leaving the fence down much expense was incurred in dressing and clearing the pround. Mrs Macarthur had generously offered her valuable assistance for an entertainment in aid of the funds and a suggestion was made that immediate steps be taken in the direction. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. Messrs L. Gorton, C. N. Cotterill, F. Thompson, H. Carty, and C. H. Coote were elected members of the Club. The election of officers resnlted as follows:- President, F. Y. Lethbridge, Esq., M.HR. ; Vice-presidents, Meßsrs W. A. Sandilands, W. Dickson, E. Good behere, A. G. Carty, W. A. L. Bailey, and W. Carthew; captain, Mr C. H. Coote ; deputy captain, Mr L E. Reade ; hon. sec. and treasurer, Mr L. Gorton ; committee, Messrs C N. Cotterill, A. W. Parker, J. Bartholomew, H. P. Lance, and J. W. Bramwell ; delegates to Mana watn Cricket Association, Messrs W. Dickson and L. Gorton. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to the retiring officers and committee. Mr J. Cobbe moved, That in tbe opinion of this meeting tbe time has arrived whan a second cricket club, to be called tbe Oroua Cricket Club, be formed in Feildiag. The motion was seconded pro forma and lost on the voices after a long discussion, in which the chairman thought it would not be in order for this meeting to pass such a resolution. As Mr Cobbe's motion was put in order to encourage Wednesday cricket, it was decided to form a second team of the F.CC, to be called the Wednesday half-holiday, and Mr J. Cobbe was elected captain of the Wednesday half holiday section of the club and Mr E. Reade assistant secretary, the latter to devote his attention particularly to the Wednesday half-holiday players. Mr Coote moved that a small pavilion be erected at tbe top end of tbe cricket ground, tbe cost not to exceed £80, and offered £5 towards the cost. Seconded by Mr E. Reade and carried. — Messrs Cobbe, L. Gorton, W. Dickson. C. N. Cotterill, and J. Bartholomew each promised £1 Is towards the cost, and Mr A. G. Carty £1 Is towards tbe Club funds. Rasolved, That a concert, in conjunction with tbe offer of Mrs Macarthur, be beld in aid of outstanding liabilities and building fund at a date to be decided on by the following subcommittee : — Messrs W. Dickson, Coote, Cotterill, and J. Cobbe. Mr Cobbe offered tbe use of a paddock opposite tbe railway station for practice, and bis offer was accepted with thanks. The subscriptions for the ensamg year were fixed at — Active members, 7s 6d ; honorary members and members under 20, 5s The date for openine tbe season was left for the committee to appoint.
