To Stand this Season in the Feuding and Bangui kki Distbicts, Thp Tlm-^ighbred Horse, HANDSOME JACK iFoiled 1890). HANDSOME JACK is a seven ye ir old, stostlyvbuilt bay horse, standing 15 hands 3 inches high. As his name indicates, he is a handsome horse, and so fashionably bred that he is well worthy the attention of breeders The stoutest strains of the English and colonial thoroughbred blood is blended in this horse's pedigree. It would ai>* pear almost unnecessary to refer further than to hi 3 tabulated pedigree undermentioned, but the family he has d«fcended from are so rich in winnitig blood that the owner may be pardoned for just mentioning a few facts perhaps not generally known. Handsome Jack is by St. Leger (the well -known winner s producing sire), whose snoek have won in New Zealand since tho season 1895»6 eighty one races, valued at £21.G7U. Kadiant, who never raced, is by that stoutly»bred sire Robinson Crusoe, whose mares are so highly thought of by Australian breeders, and as Eadiant is from Radiance this makes the r*am of Handsome Jack fall sister to those fast horses Quadrant and Cruiser (sire of theßangitikei brci Lorelei). Robinson Crusoe (site of Kndiant) is full brother to th:it stad eem Onyx (dam of Nordenfeldl), and Radiance (dam of Radiant) is by Fireworks (sire of The Mute, who is sire of the Grand National Steeplecha^ winner, Mutiny, and and the Grand National Hurdle Race winner, Dummy, last year), while Sunshine (dam of Radiance), is nlso dam of Sunu'e, a very successful stallion in New South Wale . A g lanes at St. Hippo's pedigree, who is i coneMered by go;d judges to bo one of the best horses seen in New Zealand of Into year?, wi.l show that Hand*ojts Jac* has really a better pedigree, as he shows the valuable strain of Maribyr* nong blood, which is absent from st. Hippo's pedign-e. Both horaes are closely related on blood lines.
