The Native Rebellion in India.
GREAT BATTLE WITH THE MOHMANDS IMMINENT. (Per Press Association.) Calcutta, September 3. General Ellis is in command of 10,000 troops in the vicinity of Shabkadar, with which he will advance into the Mohmands' country. Colonel Blood's force will assist General EUh, and severe fighting is expected. Colonel Biggs' force reached Fort Hangu and formed a strongly entrenched camp, aud they are waiting an opportunity to attack the Orakeais, who are assembled in large force in the vicinity af Samana. Colonel A. F. Reid, commander of the 29th Bengal Infantry, has been despatched to Uch to support the Khan of Dir, who is threatened by the Mollah Hadda. The Uch tribesmen in British Baluchistan have paid a fine of 15,000 rupees aud are repairing the damage done to the roads. Lieutenant-Colonel Abbott, leading a detachment of Bengal Lancers and Sikhs, attacked ITjOO tribesmen at Doabn, 22 miles north of Peshawar. The cavalry failed to stop the enemy's retreat. The telegraph line to Sabba has been cut. I Military preparations in India indicate that it is the intention to paui«h the natives in the Afridi's country right up to Tirah Pass. London, September 3. The Simla correspondent of the Times denies a second lotter was sent to the Ameer demanding replies to certain specific questions and asking him to avoid generalities.
