The cause of my abstention was that I had reason to fear that the Club was doing more harm than good, though it in ouly fair to add tli at men and women as conscientious an myself, and for whom I entertain great reaped, arc of a different opinion. .Still, in regard to such matters each cnau must form his own opinion and follow bis own conscience, and I am sorry if in doing this I have given offence. Holding the opinion I did, perhaps I should have formally resigned my positiou on the committee before ; a man has no right to remain on a committee unions I'o is prepared to unite heartily in its work ; that I had not dove *o earlier lias simply been from the hope I entertained that such chan^os might bo brought about as would enable me to act. However, Mr Reado will be glad to know that I have now formally tendered my resignation, and have no further responsibility in the matter. In conclusion, I may say that the lads have ray hearty goodwill, and no one would be bettor pleased to eeo them grow up healthy, intelligent, and virtuous citizens and to this end I hope in my own way to continue to labour.
