Awahuri Notes

[from our own correspondent. I The farmeri around are fully appreciating the fins weather we are having, and are seizing the opportunity to hasten on with the cropping. This season wheat HPPins to be in favor with % iot of the firmiri, and therefore a lot of it is being town. These who were fortunate in having a granary to store their grain in will do very well by having kept theirs, as there is a marked improvement in the price now. Lambs are very numerous now, and owing to the exceptionally fine weather the percentage it is expected will be very high. The total amount donated to the Palmerston Hospital by the Awahuri Racing Club was £13 3i 2d. Altogether the Hospital received (with the Government subsidy) .£2B 19s. It is worthy of not* that when the old Racing Club gave up a few years ago, they also gave their surplus money to the Hospital, the sum being over £20.
