Feildiug Borough Council.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the Feilding Borough Council was held last evening. Preßont — Tbe Mayor (Mr W. A. L. Bailey), Ore J. Gould, G. H. Saywell, G. W. Fowles, P. Thomson, W, Reid, W. G Shearer, E. Goodbehere, W. H. Haybittle. Correspondence was received and dealt with as follows: — From Inspector of Nuisances, a report. From Finance Committed a report recommending accounts amounting to .£99 78 Id be passed for payment — Adopted. From Public Works Committee stating that £5 would not maiie the ford at North Street, the Committee estimating the cost at £10. The lamp posts for streut lighting were being erected. From Library Committee recommending that the Rev. Innes Jones be appointed to the vacancy on the Committee. Appointment made. From C. N. Cotterill requesting that his name be placed on rate roll in place of Stead man for section 104, — Consent of A. Steadnian to be obtained. From J. Gould requesting that Mrs A. Eade's namn be placed on rate roll for lot 3, section 132. — Mrs Eade's consent to be obtained. From eecretary Municipal Association, asking for a list of subjects this Council would like discussed at the forthcoming meeting of the executive. From secretary N.Z. Mbtropolitan Cycle Show at Ohri9tchnrch, asking for copy of bye laws relative to cyclists in force in Borough. Proposed by Cr Fowles, and seconded by Cr Haybittle, That the Manawatu County Council be asked to contribute half the cost- of forming, culverting, and metalling South street from Kiinbolton road to the railway line. — Carried. Resolved, on the motion of the Mayor, and seconded by Cr tfeid, That in tuture the Sinking Fund Commissioners be paid a commission of one per cent, on loans placed by them from the sinking fund from this date. Cr Reid moved, That from this date the Foreman of Works keep count of all metal and works done on each street in the Borough of Feilding ; the same to be placed before the Council at its monthly meetings. — The motion was negatived, in having been explained that the information required was already supplied by the foreman. Cr Gould proposed, and Cr Reid seconded, That the Engineer be instructed to prepare specifications for constructing a bridge across the Makino stream in Denbigh street, to be in by the next ordinary meetiug of this Council. — Negatived : Ayes — The Mayor, Crs Gou d, Reid and Shearer; noes— Crs Haybittle, Thomson, Goodbehere, Saywell and Fowles. Proposed by Cr ttaywell, seconded by Cr Fowles, That the water table from Council Chambers to Warwick street be properly graded and concreted, and that the wooden culverts across public roads be replaced with pipes. — Negatived. At the conclusion of the ordinary business the Mayor referred to the impending election of councillors and hoped to see the sittiog councillors who were contesting the seats returned. The meeting then adjourned.
