Attempt on the life of the French President.
(Per Press Association.) Paris, September 1. President Faure received a great welcome to Paris from visiting the Czar. Replying to congratulations, he said the Democracy had restored the country to its true rank. The establishment of the union between the two great nations was one of the most considerable events marking the close of tlio century. The streets were lavishly decorated and the crowds frantically cheered the President. A few minutes after Faure had passed the Madeleno a bomb exploded. It is believed to be the act of a madman-
