(Per Press Association.) Dunedin, August 28. Mr Connor, junior, Secretary of the Dunedin Aniattur Boating Club Art Union was yesterday charged with establishing a certain lottery by which prizes of goodi, warsi and merchandise wen gained, drawn for, aad competed for by lottery. As the poliea did not press for a heavy penalty, the acensed having pleaded guilty, a fine- of JEI . and costs was inflicted on the first charge, and five other* were withdrawn. The offence consisted in joining a bioyole and other articles to works of art of nominal value. As it is understood that the olub will renlue over £300 after paying off ill debts, the fine will not hurt it.
