Pohangina Notes.

The Dairy Union is about to establish a creamery on tho Ashurst Block. This will be an immeuse service to the rest dents, as although the Pohangina creamery is so near, there is a river between, and coLumnuication is often stopped ; hut we are to -shave a wire hridgo or other slight structure some day.

The Victorian cheese factory, on the Pohangina road, after four years of active life, during wbicb it has been the means of circulating a good lot of money among the settlers, has come to an onfortunate end. A slight difference between the proprietor and the sup pliers as to price led to its closing down. We are glad to hear tbat the liberal response raatlo by the members of the Anglican community to the canvassers in our portion of tbe district, combined with the increased subscriptions of church members at Ashurstaud Bunnythorge (who aro all included in the Pohangina Missionary District) have enabled Archdeacon Fancourt ti> cable home to the Bishop of Wellington (who is now in England,), to briDg out a clergyman to reside in our midst at Ashurst.

A great many trap loads of shrubs and fruit trees have been continually going np tbe Pohangina road lately ; silent evidences of the improvements made year by year in our happy valley.

Lambing is becoming general now, but feed is in many places rather scarce. —Standard.
