London August 12. The Bank of England returns pub* lished to-day show the total reserve ' to be L 24,411,000 <L 12,000 more than (last week), the proportion of reserre to liabilities being 51-22 per cent. Consols are depressed, owing to the continued hardening of the discount rates now quoted.
The English wheat market is firm; the Continental shows a general advance upward?, and the American is advanoing.
The Bradford wool market is firmer. New York, August 13. The wheat shipments for Europe are causing a block on the American railways. An encrmous number of British ships have been engaged to carry the wheat. It is estimated that the harvest in Manitoba will teach 85,244,450 bushdi.
