GRAND NATIONAL MEETING. (Per Press Association.) Christchurch, August 9. Tho following are the final payments for the Grand National Hnrdle Race, of 500 80V3., 2 miles— Tally bo, Social Pest, Levanter, Ilex, Golden Plover, Jewel, Quiltiri, Voltigeur, Ulster, Muscatel, Missfire, Arquebus, Monte Carlo, Fireworks, Umslopogaas, Dentist, Flirt, Grand National Handicap Steeple* chase, of 650 soys, 3J miles— Mutiny, Levanter, Kingswood, Tally-ho, The Friar, Moras, Gillie, Perform, Dummy, Bradsbaw, Te Kooti, Highlander, Nat, Dromedary, Dundonald, Ulster, Flirt. (Per Press Association.) Chrstchuroh, August 8. At Riccarton this morning Col beck and Montacnte registered a strong mile and a quarter. Gillie went three rounds, the middle one at a strong pace. Mutiny put in tbree circuits, the laßt mile and a quarter fast. He is very well. Jewel jamped the hurdles very carefully. Golden Plover and Fireworks got over six hurdles in good style. Clarence went vsry well over the big fences. Monte Carlo and Chaos galloped a mile fast at the end of two circuits. Bradsbaw traversed a circuit steadily, Umslopo- 1 gaas and Jib jumped six flights of hurdles, both fencing splendidly. Wedlock and Swordfish brushed over six furlongs. Piccolo led Jorricks and Little Minister at the end of a strong round on the grass. Erin and Eaiti jumped the hurdles, the former dislodging his rider, bnt fenced well with another rider up. Tally-ho went pleasingly over a mile and a half, and Dentist shaped fairly over a mile and a quarter on the grass. Flirt, Nat and The Friar jumped the schooling fences, the former fencing slovenly, while Nat struck the wing of one of the jumps and fell, giving Cochrane a shaking. He jumped well with j another horseman. Eingswood, Violence, Levanter and Perform were out together for schooling over the big fences, The latter missed the second fence, and the other three were jumping in free style. Perform, who baulked twice, going on alone and jumping the bigger fences well. Highlander went once steadily and once fast, and Missnre strode over a mite fast. Voltigeur put in steady pacing work. Dummy and Muscatel were on the walking list. Hex, looking fresh and well, cantered on the cinder track. Most of the others did walking or very easy pacing work. (Per Press Association.) Auckland, Augnat 9. The Auckland Racing Club contemp late raising the added money to the Auckland Cup to 1000 sovereigns. It will be considered at the first committee meeting. (Per Press Association.) Dunedin, August 9. For the second Eclipse Stakes at the D.J.C. Autumn Meetinc 1898 there are 39 horses remaining after the declaration of the second forfeit and for the third Eclipse Stakes at the 1899 meeting 74 remain in after tha declaration of the first forfeit;
