Mr Matthew Henry reports :— A large entry of cattle came forward on Thursday, chiefly composed of dairy stock, too far from profit to command attention. Sheep were forward in limited numbers. Although' the attendance of the publio was good, trade lacked animation, and the volume of business done was small. Subjoined ar« quotations: — Cattle — 3-jr steers, £3 2s 6d ; springing heifers, £4 15s to L 5 7s 6d ; dairy cows, LB2s 6d to L 6; fat cows, L 3. Sheep— Hoggets, 4s Hi too 5b 6d ; call ewes, in lamb, 7s.
Mesm Nolan, Tonka and Co., of Hawera, report:— At Eltham, on 27th inst., we had a fair muster of oattU, bnt bidding throughout was slack. Mr Calvert's cows were late calvers, and sold from £3 5s to M 12s 6d. At Hawera, ou 29th mat., the quantity of stock came forward, most of which wera disposed of at the hammer. At Eltham— Springing heifers, £8 3s 6d to £i ss ; store cows, SOs to 355 ; dairy cows, £4 to £5 ; cows and calves, £2 7s ; weanars, 13s to 17i ; calves, ?« to Bs. At Ha wera — 2J-year year steer, £3 8s ; forward conditioned cows, £2 5s to £2 7s ; yearling itesrs, 18s 6d to 21s ; 18, months heifers, lss to 245: fat cows, 4& 17s to £3 12s j springing heifers, £9 lQs to £i ss : dairy oows, £4 \Qi to £$. Sheep— Wethers, 7s 3d to 7s 7d; shorn hoggets, 4a lid; woolly haggtts, 6s 6d to 7s ; cull ewes, 2s to 3s Id ; mixed ewes and wethers, 5s 8d ; 4-tOOth eweß in lamb, 12a id.
