A PUBLIC ABATTOIR.

o We congratulate the Borough Council on the action they have taken in regard to the establishment ot a public abattoir for Feilding. The mover of tho resolution Councillor John Gould, and the seconder Councillor William Reid, deserve every credit for the responsibility they undertook. The manner in which tha other members of the Council accepted the proposal was in the best possible taste, an evident desire being displayed in the most public spirit to assist in the promotion of a scheme which is admittedly entirely for the public good. We are aware tbat whatever the Council does in the direction of having this necessary work completed with as little delay as possible, will meet the warmest approval of every sensible person who is either directly or indirectly interested
