THE Railway Department will purchase HEWN or SAWN TOTARA SLEEPERS, 7ft by Bin. by sin., in lots of 100 or more, delivered and stacked at any station or siding on the Napier Taranaki Section, at three shillings (3s) each. Sleepers to be all heart-wood, free from large knots, shakes, and other defects ; true ia shape, and out of winding ; to be stacked as directed, and to be approved and passed by the Railway Inspector. On receiving notice of delivery of sleepers the Railway Storekeeper, Wanganui, will arrange for the Inspector to pass and brand the sleepers, and for such as pass inspection, payment will be made within twenty-eight days, or as near as may be, of the Storekeeper's certificate. Condemned sleepers must be removed within fourteen days of notice from the Inspector, failing which they will be forfeited and become the property of the Railway Department. The Department reserves to itself the right to discontinue the purchase of sleepers under this notice at any time, upon giving one month 'b notice of their intention to do so.— By Order, T.
