A. and P. Association.
o A meeting of the general committee of the above was held on Saturday. Mr A. McHardy occupied the chair. Correspondence was received from J. Lambert, Mangaonoho, suggesting that trials of sheep dogs be held at the Show. The secretary stated that he had written to both Associations to the effect that alteration of the date of the Manawatu Show was very improbable. From Mr T. A. Edlin, Awapuni, stating that he intended giving a prize £3 3s for a Sires' Produce Stakes if accepted. Accounts amounting to £37 6s 7d were passed for payment. Subject to the approval of the Finance Committee. The Finance Committee reported that the draft agreement with the new secretary had been drawn up and signed, and Messrs Cohen and K. S. Abraham had been appointed to complete the agreement on behalf of the Association. A recommendation for consideration of the Association was made to the effect that £50 be given for the most points in Lincolns, Romneys, Shorthorns, and draught horses with an entrance fee of £2 10s, no award to be given unless there are ten entries in each class ; that should the above be agreed upon, most points for horses be struck out ; and in reference to reducing the prizes for Lincolns and Bomneys that these be reduced, Mr R. S. Abraham moved. That a prize of £50 in each class be given for most points in draught horses, shorthorn cattle, Lincoln and Bomney sheep ; the entrance fee to be £3 10a, payable as 20s as nomination on Ist October, 30s acceptance on 21st October. No prize will be given in any class unless at least three entries are made. He said if the proposal could be carried out it would be beneficial. The trouble hitherto had been that people had to come a long distance to show, and the expense had been heavy. If, howtver, a decent prize was offered there would be keen competition. The entrance fee of £2 10s was not prohibitive, and the risk to tho Association was not very geat. The tct«tl increased expenditure in connection with the proposal of the Finance Committee amounted to £100, and he thought if it was adopted the Association would benefit by taking such a, step. Mr Abrhanvs motion was seconded by Mr J. M. Johnston, and after considerable discussion was carried. —
