WOOL AND PRODUCE MARKETS.
The N.Z.L. and M.A. Company, Ltd., report on the produce markets for the week ending 30th July as follows :— Wool.— Oar cable advices from London as to the closing rates of the fourth series of sales have already been published, and we have nothing further to report with reference to the European markets in the meantime, Locally no business has passed since oar last fortnightly sale, all parcels coming forward being held for the 6th prox., when we hope to snbmit a considerable nnmber of bales to bnyers. Sheepskins.— ln the absence of sales we ba^e nothing fresh to report. Entries for our next auction are fairly numerous, and we hope to submit a really good catalogue then. Hides. — Locally there is not much demand, but a ready market outside can be found for all descriptions. We quote— For well flayed cow bides, up to 3d per lb ; prime ox, frem 3£d to 4d per lb, all f.ob. Tallow.— We are advised by our London office that the market there is firmer and that medium quality has advanced 5 per ton. This is gratifying news, and we hope to sea a further gradual advance, as the consumption in tbe celony is quite nneqnal to the large quantities coming forward for local sale. Local quotations are :— For good mixed, fl2 to £13 ; lower quality, £9 to per ton. Oats.— There is no alteration in value to record, although the market in the South is reported to be slightly easier. Stocks of prime oats are not heavy, and it is expected that this Quality will not; recede in value to any extent before the next harvest. We quote :— Prime short feed at 2s 7d to 2s Bd, sacks in ; seed, duns and long Tartarians, to 3s 3d per bushel, ex store. Fowl wheat is now in plentiful supply with a fair strong market. Quotations are from 3s lid to 4s per bushel, sacks extra, ex store. Maine- — There is bow & lusge quantity offering, and prices have dropped somewhat. It is at present quoted at 2s 8d to 2s 9d, sack in, ex store. Chaff. - During tbe week a large quantity has come forward, which has had a tendency to weaken the market slightly. The supply of prime oaten sheaf is however, now in limited compass, and prices for this quality are Bxpeoted to advance shortly, Quotations for prime bright heavy in oats aro 95s to 100 a; medium quality, b v ss to 90s per ton, sacks extra. : Fungus.— The ' market for prim 6 quality is firm at 3d per lb.
