k At the meeting of the General Committee on Saturday afternoon Mr Johnston directed attention to a letter and leading article in the Advocate regarding a circular forwarded by the Association to Mr R, K. Simpson in reference to his subscription. Mr Johnston considered tbat undue reflections bad been cast npon Messrs E. S. Abraham and R. Stevens, and he moved tbat th 6 secretary write to the Advocate, and that Messrs R. S. Abraham and Cohen peruse the letter before it is forwarded. The motion was seconded by Mr Hodder. Messrs Abraham and Stevens stater) tbat they bad spoken to Mr Simpson, and it wan understood that he bad no intention to cast reflections on either. Mr Stevens thought the matter should be allowed to drop. The motion was put to the meetiDg and carried. The meeting then proceeded to deal with the appointment of secretary. Mr Dairy m pie read the report of the •nb committee, which recommended tbat either Mr D. A. Watt or Mr W. Nicholson.be oppointed to the position. The sub- committee stated that they nnanimously preferred Mr Watt. Mr Dalrymple moved, and Mr Pirani seconded, That the report be adopted, and a ballot be taken between Messrs Nicholson and Watt. Me Baker moved an amendment, and Mr W. Kendall seconded, that Mr Miles' name be added. Mr Baker said a nurn ber of members of the Committee were in favor of Mr Miles, and bis name •hould go to the ballot to enable them to exercise their votes. If the plan be proposed was adopted it would give satisfaction, especially to outsiders who were desirous of seeing Mr Miles reelected. The report was then adopted. On a ballot being taken Mr Watt was dcelared elected, the voting being na follows : D. Walt, 27 ; W. Nicholson, 11, informal votes two. Messri Cohen and Wallis acted as scrutineers. Mr Gillies suggested that only one judge be appointed for eaoh clasi. - The meeting decided in favor of Mr Gillies' •uggestion, and a list of judges was then prepared. On the motion of Mr Pirani, seconded by Mr B. S. Abraham, it was reiolved that Mr Miles be paid three months' ■klsry dating from Ist August. — Times.
