(Per Press Association.) Dunedin, July 9. There was a larger crowd than usual at the University this evening on the occasion of the " capping" ceremony. Mr E. B. Carijill, vice-chancellor, presided. The graduates numbered G M.A.'s (one being a lady), 14 B.A.s (one lady), 2 B.Sc.'s, 2 LL.B.'s (one lady) and 2 MB 'a (one lady), while eight uained the associate certificate of the School of Mines. Dunedin, July 10. John Smith, clerk of the Waikouaiti County Council, died somewhat suddenly yesterday. uhristchurcii, July 9. The Court of Arbitration concluded its sittings to-day. The award in the bootmakers' case was practically in accord with the recommendatiions of the Board of Conciliation. In the painter's case the employees practically gained the day. This award was also practical'y in the terms of the recom mentations of the Board of Conciliation, and no cost* were allowed. Wellington, July 10. Information has been received from Foxton thnt the scow Wbangaroa, from Newcastle to Foxton, has gone ashore near the mouth of the Manawatu River. The Government has virtually de cidod to establish poultry breeding stations at Motuiti and Avondalo (Auckland), Momohaki and Mount View (Wei lington), in accordance with Mr Henderson's advice. At a public meeting last night, ad dressed by Mr Crabb, a resolution was unanimously carried that the Minister to Education be urged to introduce a Temperance Text book for use in schools. This Day. All the co operative laborers on the railway attended a meeting on Saturday sight and passed a resolution urging the Minister of Public Works not to remove Mr Hay, the Assistant Engineer. Mr O'Meara, M.H.R., will interview the Minister on the matter.
