New Zealand Footballers in Australia.
ZEALANDERS V. ORANGE. AN EASY WIN. (Per Press Association.) Orange, July 8. Tho weather was perfect for the match agaiDst the Zealanders, but the ground was severely bard. There was a large attendance. What was expected to have been a stiff match proved the easiest of victories for the New Ztalanders, who won by 27 points to 3. The local men were outclassed in evpry department of tbe game, and the play of tbe New Zealanders must bave come as a revelation to them after the Bathurst match. Orange was kept on the defensive almost continuously. Soon after the kick off a rush headed by Pauling enabled Smith to score a try which was not converted. Then from the line out Hardcastle got the ball and dashed over the line. Allen placed a goal. Almost immediately afterwards Allen from a smart pass by Bayley, got over but no goal resulted. In the second half Calnan fell over tbe line and added another try, but the kick at goal was a failure. For handling in the scrum a penalty kick was awarded to Orange, which they successfully converted into goal. Then the New Zealanders scored rapidly. From some passing among the forwards Pauling crossed the line, and Calnan safely negotiated a goal. Me Kenzie from a rush scored and Panling kicked a goal. Passing from Bayley to Allen to Smith enabled tbe latter, with a fine dodgy run, to score another try, Calnan failed to convert. Orchard, Mills, Blair, Smith, and Allen played in splendid form, while Bayly played a great dashing game. (Per Press Association.) Wellington, July 8. D. Gage has forwarded the money, on account of which be was disqualified, to | the N Z. Union, and applied for reinstatement.
