The Premiers at Home.

I Per Press Association] London, July 5. Earl Jersey entertained the Premiers i at bis county seat. Osterley Park. They ; with many other notable people were present at Beerbohm Tree's stage reception at Her Majesty's Theatre, i At the National Liberal Club luncheon , on Saturday, Sir George Turner, replying to the toast of " tbe British Parliament," i urged that England ihould adopt some of the Australian advanced legislation, i Lord Bosebery said that unless the i Record Reign celebrations were soon brought to a close it would be necessary to give the dyspeptic colonial Premiers , State funerals at Westminster Abbey. The time, he Baid, had passed for using the word colonies. He preferred the word Empire. The Rigbt Hon R. J. Seddon, referring to Mr Goschen s remarks at tbe Hotel Cecil banquet, in regard to the Australasian contribution to the navy, said tbe loyalty of the colonies was not measured by their contributions to specific objects, but by the fighting supremacy of the race. New Zealand was uncomplainingly paying interest on £11.000,000 spent in holding the colony for England. The Premiers today ware banqueted at Trinity House. The Prince of Wales who was among the speakers, said the recent naval review at Spnhead had doubtless convinced the Premiers that tbe Empire was renting on a safe basis. At a meeting of Premiers it was unanimously decided to oppose the proposal that the Admiral on the station should be free to send the ships of the Australian Auxiliary Squadron anywhere in the time of war. They insisted that there should be a limitation of the powers of the Admiral in regard to utilising the squadron, otherwise the intercolonial steamers would be placed at the mercy of the enemy. At the Trinity House banquet FieldMarshal Lord Roberts said the presence of the colonial contingents must have convinced everybody of the stability of the Empire. Lord Salisbury Baid tbat the Jubilee year would be memorable for laying a deep and broad foundation of Imperial policy for future Premiers.
