Football Notes.

The following team will represent the Unionists against Albambra, in tbe Jnnior Cup match to be played at Palmerston on Wednesday next : - Full back, A. Read* ; tbree quarters. A. R. Toy, J. Robinson, W. Baker ; five eighth, D. Foster ; balf, E. Haybittle ; forwards, J. Walton, D. Morris (wings), K. Foster, D. Reid, T. Bramwell, W. Fitch, Wm. Bramwell, M. Brunette The coach will leave the Square at 1 o'clock sharp. All players who cannot go are requested to inform tbe secretary (E. Reade) by tomorrow evening. On Saturday last Birmingham defeated Ruahine, in a match for the Oroua Championship, by six points to nil. A Byrne kicked a goal from a penalty kick and Wilson scored a try for the winners, Mr Mathoson acted as referee. A senior match will be played between the Palmerston and Feilding Clubs on Saturday at Palmerston. [ The second championship match of the season between Rongotea and Awahuri excited considerable interest as tbe winner would be the premier team in the north division. Those I spectators who attended the match at Awaburi i» expectation of seeing a good game were by no means disappointed. The game was fast from start to finish and at the call of time Rongotea were victorious by 12 points to 5 The forwards of both teams were evenly matched, and their quick following up and sure collaring was greatly admired by tbe numerous spectators. In the i first spell Broughton potted a goal for Rongotea and A. Stuart scored a try for Awahuri, which Duggan converted. In the second spell Bongotea, with tbe sun at their backs, soon made things merry for tbeir opponents, and a forward rush headed by Rodgers, Duthie and Jarvis resulted in Rodgers scoring a try, which Broughton converted. From a loose scrum Edwards snapped up tbe ball and scored the second try for Rongotea, which was not converted and when "no side" was called the match stood as above. For Rongotea, Costall at full back, Harper at fiveeighths, Carter at half , and the forwards to a man played a splendid game. O'Reilley, Menz, Nash and Martina were tbe pick of the Awahuri players. Mr Mitchell gave satisfaction as referee.
