PRODUCE MARKETS.

The N.Z. L and M.A. Co. report on the produce markets for the week ceding 2nd inst. as follows :— Wool. — Returns received by the Brindisi mail this week are, on the whole, favourable, and have given general satisfaction to all our clients interested. This is especially gratifying in view of the fact that cable advices did not lead us to expect sneb a good result. Locally, we have no transactions to report, as all lots coming forward are held for our next fortnightly sale, to be held on the 9th inst. Sheepskins.— We have no change to report- The enqairy continues good. Our next sale is to be held on the 9th, for which we expect a good catalogue. Hides.— An active demand is experienced for all prime liaes coming forward. Quotations are : For prime, stout, wellflayed ox, <Hd to 3^d ; medium, 2>]d to 8d ; oow hides, '2£d to 3d ; calfskins, 3Jd per lb. Oats. — Tbe market is not quite so firm, but so far we have no change in value to report. Dealers are well supplied, and are operating sparingly. From the south we learn that deliveries from the country are falling off, and in view of the fact that the visible supply is not excessive, this should bava tbe effect of hardening values before long. Quotations are for prime, bright short feed, 2s 7d to 2s Bd, sacks in. Wheat. — Prime whole fowl wheat is getting scarce. Quotations are from S» lid to 4s per bushel, sacks extra, ex store. Chaff.— Owing to tbe very fine weather prevailing all over the colony the deliveries have been unusually heavy, and and this has bad a tendency to weaken tbe market somewhat, Holders are, however, very firm, and as deliveries ease off (which they must very soon) we think they will get their price. Quotations are for prime, heavy oats, 92s 6d to 100 a; medium quality, 75s to 87s 6d per ton, sacks extra, ex wharf. Maize. — The demand is slack- Quotations are from 3a to 3s 2d per bushel, sacks in.
