Awahuri Hack Racing Club.
[from our own correspondent.] A meeting of the Awahuri Racing Club wag held in the Endyinion Hotel on Thursday evening last, Mr Pascal in the chair. All accounts to band were passed for payment and cheques were iesued for the same. After all liabilities were squared, it was shown that a good sub stantial balance was in hand. It was then decided to present Mr Coyle with a cheque of three guineas and his son one guinea, for services rendered the Club by handicapping. The jockey, W. liherwood, who was injured at the recent race meeting, was voted a donation of £5. It was also decided to present the Secretary with a present, to cost £3 3s. Fiye guineas were also donated to the Library to be spent in the purchase of the very latest books. On the motion of Mr Pascal, it was decided that the balance should be given to the" Palmerston Hospital, and after everything is settled it is expeoted there will be about jEIO. As the Government give 25s for every £1 subscribed, the whole amount will make a nice little Jubilee gift. Mr Pascal was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for his untiring efforts to help on the dub. The starter, clerk of the scales, and secretary were also accorded a very hearty vote of thanks for efficiently performing their duties on the day of the raoes,
The Hack Racing Club at Awahuri most certainly deserve all the success which attended their meeting on Jubilee Day. It will be seen by onr report of the meeting of members which took place on last Thursday evening that after paying all liabilities a substantial balance has been left on hand. Out of this balance a sum of £5 was voted to the poor fellow Isherwood who was so unfortunate as to have his lee broken during one of the events, £5 5s to the Awahnri library fund, and £10 to the Palmerston Hospital. As the Government supplement 25s for every 20s donated to that institution, the whole amount will make a very handsome Jubilee gift. The other donations to the handicapper and secretary are most appropriate. We congratulate the members of the club on the public spirit and generous liberalty they have displayed, also on the faot that on all points they have held The Record Race Meeting of the year.
