o A junior championship matoh was played at Feilding yesterday afternoon between the Unionists (Feilding) and Palmerston 11, and after a hard fought game resulted in a win for the former, by fiye points to nil. There was no score in the first spell, and it was only just prior to calling of time that Morris scored the try for the home team as tbe result of a forward rush. The try was converted by A. Reade. The gronnd being very slippery, the game was almost wholly a forward one, the local forwards being superior to their opponents, while the Palmerston three* quarters — Lamblyn, P. Fitzherbert and Tortensen— did good work in stopping rushes. Fitch was the pick of the local forwards, all of whom played a good game, while A. Reade's Sue kicking at full back was of good service. Mr P. Giesen gave satisfaction as referee. While the game was in progress a section of the spectators showed their feelings at the decision of a touch line umpire by hooting him. This conduct is greatly to be deprecated and it would be well for those guilty of the offence to abstain from a similar display of their feelings. A meeting of the Unionist Football Club will be held at the " Camp" tomorrow evening at eight o'clock. All members are requested to attend. The following will represent Awaburi in their cup match with Rongotea next Saturday, at Awahuri :— Fullback, J. Bennett ; three quarters, Earihana, MeMurray, Ika ; five eighth, A. Stuart ; half, Kiwi ; wings, W. Mends and Nash ; forwards, O'Reilly, Martini, Cole, Gibson, Campbell, Davy, Buckendge Tbe game will commence at 3 o'clock sharp, admission 6d, ladies free.
