A Painful Accident.
As stated in our yesterday's issue the youmgest daughter of Mr G V. Shannon, of The Totaras, Stanway, met with a most painful and serious accident on Tuesday evening. Ie appears the young lady was taking a vapour bath, when the mythelated spirit lamp exploded and the whole of her body waa envoloped in flames, with the exception of her head. Before Miss Shannon was released from her unfortunate position she was severely burnt and now lies in a precarious condition. Dr Charlton was immediately sent for and did all that was possible to relieve -the sufferer. Dr Smith (of Hunterville) was, also, sant for to consult with Dr Charlton, and the case being so serious, a message was sent to Mr and Mrs Shannon who are at present in Auckland, Mr Shannon being there in connection with his duties as Customa expert. The many friends of the family will regret very much the painful accident as this young lady was bright and clever and has gained the esteem of everyone with whom she came in contact.
