The Earthquakes in India.
(Per Press Association) Calcutta, June 16. The proposed public jubilee illuminations in India have been abandoned, and the luoney will be devoted to ielieving the victims by the earthquakes. Immense damage and considerable loss of life was caused by the earthquakes in the province of Assan, where many roads and bridges were rendered useless owing (o uiud and sand spurting from obasms which opened in the road. At Gatantt the railway disappeared. At Sbillong every building waa levell ed to the grouud and many persons tilled.
